Kurt Vile - “Beach on the Moon” (God Is Saying This to You…)
At the Griffith Observatory over the weekend, Kurt Vile’s “Beach on the Moon” popped into my head while climbing the spiral staircase to the roof. Once at the top, you have a perfect view of the pulsating smog over Downtown LA and the “Marine Layer” thumps like Vile’s fuzzy-psych-folk (err, dreamgazey?) music.
The Philly guitarist/vocalist headlines the Woodsist Festival tonight at the Echo. Keep in mind that Woodsist reissued Vile’s 2008 LP Constant Hitmaker, but he’s now signed to larger indie Matador. Be sure to snatch up a copy of his latest EP on Matador Square Shells at the show.
